Whether you like it or not, Christmas is fast approaching and your thoughts will be turning to gifts, food, drink and, of course, decorations. Well, this year why not spare a thought for that often overlooked room in your house – the bathroom! With minimal effort and justa touch of creativity you can turn your bathroom into a Christmas-themed haven. Let me show you how…
Alright, I’ll admit it isn’t going to be practical to put up a tree or string tinsel around your bathroom. That said, just a few touches can transform your bathroom. You could try a mini Christmas tree, perched on the window sill, vanity shelf or even the corner of your bath. Unobtrusive yet striking and there would be no mistaking the look you were going after.
A little less obvious and perhaps even more effective would be a Christmas wreath. It doesn’t have to be grand or oversized. Keep it simple and bathroom friendly (you could even make your own!) like these ones:
Christmas scented candles
When you think of Christmas what smells do you associate with it? Personally, I think of pine, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, orange peel and, of course, frankincense and myrrh.
Well, thanks to the genius of candlemakers, you can introduce the smells of the festive season into your bathroom with a wide range of scented candles available today, many of them designed specifically for the task of making your home – including your bathroom – an absolute pleasure for your nostrils!
Christmas bath bombs, fizzers and bubbles
You can top up your festive scents at bathtime with similarly infused bath bombs, bubble bath and soaps. Leave a stack by the bath or shower with a range of options so anyone can get in the spirit the next time they’re in the bathroom.
Be it Mariah Carey, Cliff Richard or the dulcit tones of Noddy Holder (IT’S CHRIIIIIIIISSSSSTMAAAAASSSS!), get your festive kicks by enjoying a few tracks of appropriately themed music while taking a bath or shower. And don’t forget to sing along…joining in is what it’s all about!
Unless you’re expecting a white Christmas (and let’s be honest, if you’re in the UK you’re not!), then create the effect with that old stand by, snow spray. A little bit in the corners of your bathroom window will make it feel like there’s a snow storm outside while you’re enjoying a hot, relaxing bath inside. Perfect!
Last but not least, is mistletoe. you’ve two choices here…hang it outside the bathroom door so when you pass your partner in the morning you can steal a quick, festive kiss…or better yet, spice things up a lot more by hanging your mistletoe right over the bath or shower. Think of it as a Christmas invitation that ends well for all involved!
